Umweltbundesamt

The Federal Environment Agency (UBA) is the central environmental authority in Germany in providing citizens with extensive information on environmental issues. One way of doing this is with their "Chemistry in Everyday Life" app.
The app
To make it easier for citizens to access reliable information about chemicals, UBA offers various solutions, one of them being the Android and iOS app "Chemistry in Everyday Life". The application makes it possible to search for substances in various ways: by entering molecular formulas, numbers on dangerous goods boards, or through scanning a barcode. Consumers then receive all the necessary information, such as the hazards of and safety precautions needed in handling said chemicals. The data source is ChemInfo – the information system on chemicals of the federal and state governments.
